ABOUT THE FILM

This documentary follows Sets Tomita as he reflects on 94 years of life. Growing up in rural Los Angeles County, his family faced anti-Japanese discrimination before and after the Attack on Pearl Harbor.  Like thousands of others, they were forced into internment camps, leaving behind their homes, possessions, stability and privacy.  In spite of the injustice, they continued forward with dignity rather than surrendering to bitterness.

Although Sets experienced camp as a playful pre-teen, he recognizes how incarceration deeply affected families, especially parents.  When the war ended, the Tomitas returned to the San Fernando Valley and rebuilt.  Sets credits camp and the years that followed for his lifelong appreciation of resilience, honesty, and simple joys.
